Erin Strawn

Ms. Strawn brings extensive knowledge of the appropriations process to the Stanton Park Group’s clients, as well as significant experience in education and healthcare gained in over eight years of service on Capitol Hill. Ms. Strawn will use her appropriations expertise as well as her years of experience in education, healthcare and workforce issues to help the Stanton Park Group’s clients navigate the ten spending bills passed annually by the Congress, as well as relevant authorizing legislation.

Prior to joining the Stanton Park Group, Ms. Strawn served for five years as Appropriations Associate to Congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham (R-CA), a member of the Labor, Health and Education Appropriations Subcommittee. As Cunningham’s lead staffer on the Labor Health and Education Appropriations Subcommittee, Ms. Strawn was integral in planning and implementing the Congressman’s legislative priorities in the largest domestic spending bill and worked closely with the Subcommittee staff to ensure that these priorities were reflected in the final spending bill. Ms. Strawn successfully shepherded several legislative initiatives through the appropriations process, including provisions to provide workforce training to military spouses, to allow certain student loan borrowers to consolidate with their lender of choice, and to clarify the status of military children whose parents are deployed or killed in combat for the purposes of the Impact Aid Program. Ms. Strawn also ran point for Cunningham’s efforts to build coalition support for key programs in the Labor Health and Education bill, and maintained strong relationships with Committee staff, congressional leadership, White House and senior executive branch personnel.

Mrs. Strawn also served as a senior aid to her hometown Representative, Congressman Curt Weldon (R-PA), a senior Member of the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees. As Legislative Director, Erin implemented a comprehensive legislative strategy for initiatives in healthcare, foreign affairs, tax, housing and transportation, and managed the Congressman’s policy on Russia. Weldon, a Russian affairs expert, tapped Strawn to coordinate a bi-annual Parliamentary exchange with meetings both in Washington, DC and Moscow. Ms. Strawn also served Congressman Weldon as a legislative assistant, office manager, and staff assistant.

Ms. Strawn’s first introductions to Capitol Hill included internships in the offices of Rep. Curt Weldon, Majority Leader Dick Armey, and the Republican National Committee.

Ms. Strawn received her B.S. in finance from the Georgetown University School of Business.
